Critical Miss Forums For the discussion of Critical Miss magazine, the "works" (such as they are) of Jonny Nexus, gaming, and life in general. The idea is for this to be a nice friendly board and as long as no-one acts like a twat it will hopefully stay that way.

I'd like to refer you to a mid-80's (I believe), American cartoon, called "Dino-Riders." It was about suspiciously human looking aliens, that crashed on Earth, during dino-times!
Take a look at it, and when your eyes stop bleeding, think it over. Then go watch Cadillacs and Dinosaurs! _________________ Proud & Faithful Member number 2 of The I Hate Dragon Lance 'coz it's Shit Club. |

Yeah, we got Dino-Riders here. I can't remember much about the series, just that the villains were typically incompetent '80s cartoon villains. And the good guys had telepathic links with their dino mounts? Not sure about that, but the bad guys definitely had to put brain control devices on the heads of their dinos, just to make it clear that they were the bad guys.
What I do know for sure is that the Dino-Rider toys were easily among the best of my childhood. I only ever had 2 small, simple ones (a pterodactyl and something quick & bipedal), but the really big, complex ones were amazing, with 9 trillion moving parts & concealed crew compartments you could open up & probably also battery operated bits. They just don't make anything like that anymore. _________________ -----BEGIN GEEK CODE BLOCK-----

The good guys had amulets, that gave them dino telepathy. _________________ Proud & Faithful Member number 2 of The I Hate Dragon Lance 'coz it's Shit Club. |

Well, dependent NPCs for instance. Apparently exposure to the blue glow all PCs emit makes one susceptible to Silurian retroviruses. |

I think you mean you played a Scotsman.
Anyhoo, back to the subject.
I think you need to make a choice - either something old, but re-vamped, or something new. The problem I foresee with the re-vamped scenarios is that a clever sod will clock on to what's happened/happening/going to happen.
In the old category, I'd place the DNA clone & Lost Island/Land of the Lost scenarios.
In the new, I'd drop the Dino-Invasion, Post-Apoc Dino Crysis, Collision of Dimensions, etc.
Also, you need to decide if Dino's are a major part of your world (like The Flintstones) or if it's just a few.
Finally, is this a one-off, a part of, or a continuation of an existing campaign / group of characters? this will also influence things.
Not sure if I've said anything useful, or just pointed out what's fairly obvious.... _________________ "I hope I die like my grandmother did, peacefully & painlessly in her sleep.................. Not screaming like everyone else who was in the car"

I knew that was coming, and be informed that I resemble that remark, on my grandmother's side.

Actually, that's very useful, and is largely what I was looking for. Apart from brain-storming, I find you lot very good at condensing all the useful stuff we've discussed into nice, logical summaries like that. Makes my decision-making much better. _________________ -----BEGIN GEEK CODE BLOCK-----

So what did you go for?
Bet it was one of the boring old skool scenarios. _________________ "I hope I die like my grandmother did, peacefully & painlessly in her sleep.................. Not screaming like everyone else who was in the car"

Haven't actually made any progress. Just moved house this week, so all but the simplest tasks have been on hold. But I'll keep you informed. _________________ -----BEGIN GEEK CODE BLOCK-----
